Sitting at the most eastern side of the Fife peninsula, St Andrews is now a golfing and tourist centre. The North Sea coastline around St Andrews is famous for sweeping sandy bays on either side of a rocky headland. Preserved and listed, the St Andrews Cathedral and nearby St Andrews Castle make an interesting day trip. Follow the Fife Coastal Path through coastal cottage villages and enjoy spectacular sea views and breathtaking panoramas of the Firths of Forth and Tay. The route follows the East Neuk of Fife, through picturesque fishing villages such as Elie, Anstruther, Crail, St Monans and Pittenweem.
